Thoughts on Taking the Risk

Writer: K.C. Dreisbach, LMFTK.C. Dreisbach, LMFT

I love reading books by Paulo Coelho. The man has so much wisdom and he packs that wisdom as tightly as he can into incredible stories. This little quote from him is no different....

What's been on your mind lately?

What vision do you have for yourself?

What goal seems to always be on your horizon?

How many people pass away with that dream, that vision, still dancing way off in the distance?

How many people give up before ever really taking the chance?

It goes back to our dear friend, Fear.

Fear causes us to stay stuck in the same routines, same patterns, and same choices. It is because of fear, that most of us never take a chance or take a risk on something greater.

But anything worth doing has a level of risk that comes with it. With great success, there is always great risk.

The key is knowing when it is time to take the risk, and when it is time to play it safe. But, there is no such thing as "perfect timing."

You'll wait your whole life with your eye still on that dream way off in the horizon, if you keep waiting for the "perfect time." Because perfection doesn't exist. It's a trap.

What is your dream off in the horizon?

Why do you keep waiting to seize it?

Are you stuck in the trap of "perfection"?

What are you afraid of?

Remember, "if it's still in your mind, it is worth taking the risk." It is worth seizing the moment right now. All you have to do is reach out and take the chance.

What are you going to do today? How are you going to take one step toward your vision in the horizon?

Think on that and see where it takes you.

And, whenever you're ready to take the risk, remember that I am here to help.
